Dear Friends of the Sky, As you probably know, two astronomical phenomena practically will coincide on 11/12 August 1999 and can be best observed in Romania. These are the last total Solar eclipse of the millennium (with maximum in Romania - 2m23s) and the Perseids meteor shower (that will take full profit from the New Moon).

To observe the great shows of the sky, we are organizing eight tours to Romania. These will satisfy both your astronomical inquiries and the great tourist offer of Romania. Here is a brief overview of our project (that has been published on Internet one year ago).

Astronomy, Observations:

- Meet five astronomical groups from Canada, USA, The Netherlands, UK, Romania, other amateur and professional astronomers from abroad;

- Participate in observational camps faraway from city pollution: observe the eclipse, the Perseids, deep sky;

- Attend the international meeting "Total Solar Eclipse with Meteors", group presentation, posters, instruments, photos and publications;

- Full program, pictures, maps, special guests, and other projects starting before the eclipse are available here:

www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hall/9794/ann4.htm

Tourism, Entertainment:

- Visit exciting places of Romania:

The capital Bucharest (right on the line of centrality) and Targoviste (the old capital of Wallachia, certified in 1396); The legendary Transylvania: Sibiu, Brasov, Sighisoara, Bistrita; The monasteries of Curtea de Arges, Dealu, Cozia, and Hurezi (this is the sub-Solar point of the eclipse); The splendid tourist resorts of the valleys of Prahova, Olt and Bistrita; the castles Peles, Huniazi (1350), Bran (Dracula's); The mountains of Bucegi, Fagarasi and Parang; the Black Sea side; The national reservations of Retezat Mountains and Danube Delta... Virtual tours, full programs, pictures and maps are available here:

www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hall/9794/ann3.htm

The tours last 6-11 days and start from US$ 372, all included. SARM will provide the astronomical assistance, including Sun glasses, safe observing information, some astronomical accessories. Our tour operator will provide airport transfers, tours to the country side, accommodation in 2-4* hotels and chalets, meals, entrance to the museums, optional visits to Bucharest Astronomical Observatory "Amiral Vasile Urseanu".
